Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer Colin Farrell

In the latest teaser trailer for the newest addition to the Harry Potter cinematic universe, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) passes through customs twice—once to enter New York City, and once more to enter the American wizarding world. But with a magical suitcase he can spell to look Muggle-worthy, one wonders what he’s bringing across the pond.

“What makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you, Mr. Scamander?” Auror Percival Graves (Colin Farrell) wonders. Well, as we well know, Dumbledore taking bright young wizards under his wing isn’t always for the best reasons…

Fantastic Beasts will be unleashed November 18.

The visuals alone of this movie make me kind of excited for it. I know that some of the stuff she’s written has been a bit shallow in its coverage of the nuances of American history, but I am excited to see a glimpse of another time/place and what magical society would have looked like then.

Also, the Dumbledore angle is actually a bit intriguing since I didn’t know he’d be involved.  If this is in the 20s, I am guessing that is post fracture with Grindelwald, but before Grindelwald himself started taking over.  Hmm.

I’m not sure I’m excited for the story in this movie, but I agree with @1 Lisamarie that the visuals in this trailer look great. The costumes are beautiful, and the sets look good too. I kind of want to watch it on those strengths alone.

I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to actually physically see the movie better than the last few Harry Potter movies, which I liked ok as movies (I have some problems with them, but I’ll save that for the re-read/watch thread), but which are sometimes hard to watch at home because I have to turn up my TV’s brightness because everything is just. so. dark. I can’t even try to watch Deathly Hallows in the daytime.
